I am Erika Aleman, the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants who risked their lives in search of safety and stability in the United States. Like many children today, I grew up with the constant uncertainty that my family could be torn apart due to their immigration status.
My personal journey within an immigrant family allows me to deeply understand and empathize with the fears and insecurities that those we represent and their loved ones face today.
For most of my life, I have lived in working-class communities primarily made up of immigrants and minority families—communities rich in culture, art, music, and traditions from across the globe.
Witnessing the institutional injustices, lack of resources, and discrimination these communities endure further solidified my calling to become an advocate.
Today, I proudly dedicate my career to representing and fighting for people like my family and my community.
